Why Did You Decide to Become an Orthodontist?
Dr. Matthew Rhee grew up as a long-time orthodontic patient. Due to his experience, he understood what orthodontics could mean for a patient and the significant impact it could have on the lives of others. It was his own high school orthodontic experience that motivated him to want to go to dental school and ultimately become an orthodontist.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Rhee first studied at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for his bachelor's degree before going to the University of Illinois Chicago for his dental doctorate. As a college student, he worked as an assistant in pediatric dentistry. During his residency, he gained experience as an orthodontic assistant and even worked as a general dentist on the weekends.
Throughout the years, Dr. Rhee has remained passionate about continuing education and furthering his skills through his membership in various professional organizations, including:

- American Academy of Orthodontists
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Away from dentistry, Dr. Rhee loves spending as much time as possible with his family and loved ones. His interests involve things like golf, music, food, cooking, cars, watches, coffee, and technology. One interesting fact about him: he was Time Magazine’s Person of the Year in 2006!
