This is because by attending regular preventive appointments, a patient can take care of minor dental problems early, saving them from having to get more involved (and expensive) procedures over time. Most plans also work on a calendar year or 12-month cycle in which the annual maximum coverage resets.

• Preventive services , like checkups, cleanings, X-rays, and dental sealants are covered 80-100%.
• Restorative services , such as fillings, crowns, pulp therapy, and extractions are covered 45-75%.
• Orthodontic care can also be partially covered, though many will only pay for braces for patients under 18.

It really depends on your child’s particular needs and situation, but in most cases, simply having them attend their two recommended checkups and cleanings each year is the easiest way to keep their teeth healthy and maximize your coverage at the same time.
